A Collection of Memories

Maria and Robert are entrepreneurs for whom design—in all its forms—is an integral part of their lives. Passionate travelers, cultural explorers, and knowledgeable gastronomes, they practice culinary art through their own experiments.

I try to resist the temptation to use the term “eclectic”… but they are truly eclectic people, and their kitchen design reflects all this diversity. Beyond its stylistic eclecticism, their kitchen blends and conveys a wide range of feelings and emotions, moments, and memories from various corners of the world.

Without delving into stylistic details, we believe that one can identify influences from Scandinavian and Flemish design, as well as Japanese nuances, and touches of French aristocratic refinement and Italian style. For Maria and Robert, all these mean much more than mere styles; they reflect their personality, shared values, and individual nuances. They signify “Home.”

Kitchen Configuration: Challenges and Solutions

The kitchen configuration was largely dictated by the space and the positioning of water and ventilation connections. The column group invisibly integrates a load-bearing pillar, which has been clad to look like a piece of furniture.

The main challenge was the volumetry of the furniture in relation to the height of the space (310 cm), also considering precise ergonomic aspects. The solution came from the gigantization of the suspended display cabinets, which, in addition to reaching the ceiling, are positioned much lower than traditional suspended units.

Ergonomic and Aesthetic Solutions

We chose this solution for two well-defined reasons:

1. Accessibility: The display cabinets are used daily, not just as decorative space, and by positioning the sink and hob to the sides, this configuration was made possible.

2. Aesthetics: When viewed from the table, the display cabinets remain at eye level without seeing underneath them; and the integrated lighting at the base of the cabinets is indirect to avoid disturbing the view from any angle.

This is a particular design solution, especially appreciated by expert eyes, but refined and presented in our showroom as well.

Island for Two

The kitchen island holds a special significance, being the most used place in the house. The comfortable table, often used as a desk, is strategically positioned not to obstruct movement in the kitchen. The ceramic block offers an excellent preparation surface for Maria, a true Chef du partie.

Timeless Finishes

In this project, we used timeless finishes that surprise through their unexpected associations.

The “Grigio Pepe” oak wood has a bi-tonal coloring in two layers with different shades and can look surprising depending on the light.

The countertops and the island block are made of Laminam “Fokos Piombo” ceramic; hence, we integrated a composite under-mount sink and a flush-mounted hob.

The AluTech columns in Champagne color ensure the relationship with the building’s architecture, where metallic notes are found in the window frames and other linear elements.

The “Petra” showcase cabinets remain the permanent stars, revealing only the silhouettes of the objects you can guess inside.

The Reflection of Personality and Values

Moving into a new house is a complex and captivating experience, which I warmly recommend experiencing multiple times throughout your life. There is something truly refreshing about starting from scratch and planning every detail from beginning to end. The decorating process was meticulous, involving numerous iterations until achieving perfection.

Functionally, the new kitchen is brilliant: we now have more counter and workspace, making daily activities much more efficient and enjoyable. The chosen materials significantly contribute to this sense of perfection. The wood blends perfectly with the tiles, creating a harmonious and balanced color ensemble that adds warmth and elegance to the entire space.

It’s amazing how every detail of the kitchen, from textures to shades, contributes to the overall atmosphere of the house, making it not just a place to live, but a true sanctuary of comfort and aesthetics.
